society

Böke belonged to the Vefa Istanbul squad from the beginning of the 1920s and played with it in the game İstanbul Ligi (German Istanbul League ). Since there was no national professional league in Turkey at that time, regional leagues existed instead in metropolitan areas such as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir , of which İstanbul Ligi (also called İstanbul Futbol Ligi) was considered the most renowned. With this club he was runner-up behind Galatasaray Istanbul in the 1926/27 season and was thus involved in one of the greatest successes in the club's history.

After his club merged with Kumkapı SK to Vefa Kumkapı SK in the summer of 1932 , Böke played another season for his club. For the 1932/33 season he moved to the traditional club Fenerbahçe Istanbul . Subsequently, Böke was an integral part of the team until the mid-1930s. After he and his team won the Istanbul championship in the 1932/33 season, he was also part of the Fenerbahçe team that won three consecutive Istanbul championships in the 1934/35 , 1935/36 and 1936/37 seasons . Fenerbahçe drew level with arch rivals Galatasaray, the first club to win three consecutive Istanbul championships. He was also part of the Fenerbahçe team that emerged victorious in the 1936/37 season from Milli Küme , a kind of championship tournament in which the teams of the three cities of Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir participated.

After this successful three seasons, Böke stayed three more seasons with Fenerbahçe, but could only get one more title in the 1939/40 season with the Milli Küme championship. Following this season, Böke returned to his old club Vefa and played here for two more seasons.

In addition to his successful time at Fenerbahçe, Böke went down in the club's history through another incident. He was one of the main actors in an incident which in turn contributed to the great rivalry between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray. In the derby played on February 23, 1934 in the Istanbul league between the two clubs, also known as the intercontinental derby , there were tough and unfair duels up to the 60th minute of the game. After one of these duels between Kadri Dağ and Tevfik Baha , after the addition of the players Mehmet Reşat Nayır and Fikret Arıcan, there was a scuffle in which the players of both teams and a little later also some spectators took part. In this tumultuous mass brawl, Böke jumped onto the stands and tried to attack the coach of the opposing team. This action ensured that the situation continued to escalate. While both club presidents negotiated a possible merger of the clubs before this game and had even drawn up statutes for the new sports club, this project was completely discarded after this memorable derby and instead a rivalry that continues to this day was born.

National team

Böke began his national team career in 1926 with a commitment for the Turkish national team in a friendly against the Romanian national team . By November 1932, he completed two more internationals.

With the Turkish selection, Böke took part in the Balkan Cup .

Coaching career

After his career as a referee, Böke worked as a club official at Fenerbahçe Istanbul and held various offices such as manager. So he was active as a member of the board of Fenerbahçes (Turkish: Divan Kurulu ).

death

Böke died on December 26, 1995 in Istanbul of complications from heart failure . He was buried a day later after the midday prayer in Istanbul's Galip Paşa Mosque in the famous Karacaahmet cemetery .
