Lütfü Aksoy (born July 17, 1911 in Istanbul ; † unknown) was a Turkish football player , referee and official. He played for the two traditional clubs Karşıyaka SK and Galatasaray Istanbul . He was also the second Turkish international Karşıyakas. At Galatasaray, where he experienced the peak of his career, Aksoy played at one of the most unsuccessful phases in the club's history and was involved in a game of the intercontinental derby in the development of the great rivalry between his club and Fenerbahçe Istanbul . After his playing career, he worked as a football referee. He worked as a functionary for the Turkish Football Association .

society

The beginnings of Aksoy's footballing career are almost undocumented. From the early 1930s he played for Karşıyaka SK . With this club he played in the İzmir Futbol Ligi (German Football League Izmir ), the regional football league of the western Turkish port city of Izmir . Since there was no international professional league in Turkey at the time , regional leagues existed instead in metropolitan areas such as Istanbul , Ankara and Izmir, of which the İstanbul Futbol Ligi (also called İstanbul Ligi, German Istanbul Football League ) was considered the most renowned.

In the summer of 1933, Oktay finally moved to the traditional club Galatasaray Istanbul . This club was going through one of the toughest times of its career. After an internal dispute, half the team and a large part of the club members had left the club and founded the club Güneş SK .

This split, described as one of the biggest crises in the club's history, also meant that Galatasaray remained almost titled for about two decades and lost its importance within Turkish football. Güneş SK quickly established itself within the Istanbul Football League and also began to play for the championship. In the 1937/38 season Güneş finally won the Istanbul championship, while Galatasaray was only able to get back in the 1948/49 season after 18 years .

Aksoy played for Galatasaray almost continuously as a regular player until the summer of 1940 and was only able to get the Milli Küme as a title in the 1938/39 season , a kind of championship tournament in which the teams of the three cities of Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir participated.

National team

Aksoy began his national team career in 1932 with a commitment for the Turkish national team in a friendly against the Bulgarian national team . By August 1936 he completed another international match.

Aksoy also took part with the Turkish selection at the 1936 Summer Olympics.
