The Hanover-Braunschweigische Stromversorgungs AG , HASTRA for short , was a regional energy supply company with a supply area in northeast Lower Saxony .

history

The Hastra high-rise on the corner of Humboldtstrasse and Gustav-Bratke-Allee, later E.ON headquarters,
in the background the Ihmezentrum

The company was founded in 1929 as a subsidiary of Preußische Elektrizitäts AG (57.49% share), various cities and districts in Lower Saxony (Celle, Diepholz, Goslar, Hanover, Helmstedt, Hildesheim, Lüchow-Dannenberg, Lüneburg, Nienburg / Weser, Northeim, Soltau- Fallingbostel, Wolfenbüttel) and the Braunschweiger Versorgungs-AG were founded.

The Hastra supplied the area of the districts and cities involved - around a third of Lower Saxony in total - with electricity. However, it only operated a small number of power plants itself, but obtained electricity from PreussenElektra and Überland-Zentrale Helmstedt AG (ÜZH).

In 1960, the new Hastra administration was built on Humboldtstrasse according to plans by the architects Otto Dellemann , Georg Seewald and Gustav Wulff .

In 1999 Hastra merged with Energieversorgung Magdeburg AG (EVM), Ferngas Salzgitter AG (FSG), Landesgasversorgung Niedersachsen AG (Landesgas) and ÜZH to form Avacon AG, which was renamed E.ON Avacon AG in June 2005 .

Hastra Museum

From 1979 the Hastra in Hanover exhibited a collection of historical electrical appliances to the public. From this grew over the years the Electro-Technical Museum of Hastra, which later became the Museum of Energy History (s) supported by Avacon AG . The history of electrical energy technology is presented there with more than 1,000 exhibits.
