The Krajot ( Hebrew הַקְּרָיוֹת ha-Qrajot ) is a metropolitan area of six suburbs of the city of Haifa , Israel , all of which have now developed into medium -sized cities . Originally founded as small settlements in the 1930s, they have grown into a coherent metropolitan area over the past few decades. Individual settlement boundaries, including those with the city of Haifa, are no longer recognizable. The name Krajot is the plural of Kirja ( Hebrew קִרְיָה Qirjah , in German city or suburb ), which is part of all five place names in the Smichuth form . Kirjat Chaim is not an independent community, but part of Haifa.
