Habib Beye (born October 19, 1977 in Suresnes ) is a former football player . He held the position of right defender .

Career

Beye trained at the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy , where he also signed his first professional contract. After not playing a single game for PSG, he moved to Racing Strasbourg in 1998 .

There he established a regular position and spent a total of five years with the Alsatians. He then moved to Olympique Marseille at the age of 26. With this club he reached the 2004 UEFA Cup final and twice the French Cup final . He has received various awards for his good performance. In July 2006 he extended his contract and took over the captaincy from Fabien Barthez . In the 2007/2008 season he moved to Newcastle United . In 2009 he moved to Aston Villa . There he received a three-year contract. He ended his career on June 30, 2012 with Doncaster Rovers , for which he had last played six months.
