Hacı-Halil Uslucan (* 1965 in Kayseri , Turkey ) is a German psychologist, migration researcher , holder of the professorship for Modern Turkish Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen and head of the Foundation Center for Turkish Studies and Integration Research .

Haci-Halil Uslucan belongs to the generation of children of the Turks who originally immigrated to Germany as migrant workers , then known as " guest workers ". Uslucan was born in the province of Kayseri and has lived in Berlin since 1973. In 1985 he started studying at the Free University of Berlin , where he obtained a diploma in psychology in 1991, a master's degree in general and comparative literature in 1997 and a doctorate in psychology in 1999. In the same year he became head of the longitudinal project “ Youth violence as a result of social disintegration , anomalous uncertainty and excessive demands ” at the University of Magdeburg , where he completed his habilitation in 2006. He then held a professorship at the University of Potsdam . From the winter semester 2008 to August 2010 he taught educational psychology at the Helmut Schmidt University , University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg and was an external lecturer in educational psychology at the University of Vienna. Since August 2010 he has been a professor at the University of Duisburg-Essen and scientific director of the Center for Turkish Studies and Integration Research in Essen. From 2012 to 2019 he was a member of the Expert Council of German Foundations for Integration and Migration . In 2019 and 2020, Uslucan will be a member of the Federal Government's expert commission on the framework conditions for integrability .

Uslucan has published a large number of specialist articles and specialist books on the main research areas of violence in adolescence, moral development, psychosocial burdens on migrant families, educational styles in an intercultural comparison , divergences in values ​​from a cultural psychological point of view, Islamic religious instruction in Germany and the history of science and psychology. His work is characterized by a synopsis of psychological, sociological and philosophical issues. Uslucan was involved in the federal government's campaign for nonviolent upbringing from 2002 .

Uslucan was also a freelancer for the FAZ , for whose Berlin editions he wrote over 100 columns on the German-Turkish press landscape from 1999 onwards. The texts were published as a book by Reinhard Fischer Verlag .
