The company was founded on January 1st, 1825 by Johann Georg Haendler and Friedrich August Natermann as a forwarding company. The packaging manufacturer Haendler & Natermann developed from this . At the beginning of the company's history there was the industrial production of lead sheet and lead foil. These were used to knock out tobacco and tea boxes.

In 1847 Carl Georg August Natermann bought an earlier tower in the city ​​wall of Hann. Münden and began manufacturing lead shot . Up until the 1980s, meal was produced here under the name “Lätare”. Besides lead seals and sinkers and bullets were for the then early target rifles manufactured.

Muzzle-loading projectiles and projectiles for large-caliber weapons have been manufactured since the 1950s. Since then, air rifle pellets have also been manufactured in a wide variety of calibers for many areas of application. The production takes place exclusively on self-constructed machines.

Bullet manufacture

The company produces bullets exclusively by cold forming (pressing). Wire sections are processed under high pressure. This processing method enables very uniform results. Errors that often occur during casting, such as cavities or deviations in shape, property and hardness, are avoided.

H&N Sport produces air rifle pellets in numerous geometries and weights for a wide variety of purposes. These are divided into 10 Olympic disciplines, field target , hunting, leisure, plinking , CO 2 pistols and round balls.

Former production facility and company emblem, the hail tower

The landmark of the company is the medieval ferry gate tower (also Hagelturm or Natermann tower) as part of the city ​​fortifications of Münden . It is shown in the company logo. The tower was bought by Haendler & Natermann in 1848 as a former defensive tower and heightened it. After that it was called a hail tower because lead shot was extracted from liquid lead in free fall. Until 1981, lead shot was produced in the tower for hunting purposes. Today there is a working museum in the hail tower, which, among other things, houses the earlier production facilities.
