The port of Seattle is the seaport of the US city of Seattle . It is managed by the operating company Port of Seattle .

The Port of Seattle has three divisions: aviation , real estate, and seaport. In addition to the port facilities, the facilities also include the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in SeaTac , the marina in Shilshole Bay , the Maritime Industrial Center in Salmon Bay , the Fishermen's Terminal , container terminals and a grain elevator at Smith Cove as well as numerous other container terminals in the Elliott Bay , on Harbor Island and the Duwamish River . The port also manages numerous private and business anchorages as well as two cruise terminals.
In 2015, the area of the seaport with the seaport of Tacoma turned over 3.5 million containers, which made it the third largest container transshipment point in North America . In the same year, 898,000 cruise passengers were counted. The Port of Seattle employs almost 1,800 people. The airport had a record 42.3 million passengers.
Operating company
The establishment of the operating company was approved by the voters of King County in a vote on September 5, 1911 under the Port District Act . The operating company is run by an elected five-person commission. The term of office of the commissioners is four years.

In 2011 the port celebrated its 100th anniversary and for this purpose brought out a font with photos and information from the port's history.
For 13 years a Porsche 959 was kept by customs in the port of Seattle until the regulations were changed and the vehicle could be imported subject to strict regulations regarding use.
In 1949 the US Department of Commerce established a free trade zone in the port.
On October 7, 2014, the ports of Seattle and Tacoma announced that they would market together, but not merge. On August 4, 2015, the establishment of the Northwest Seaport Alliance began, which became the third largest container gateway in the USA.
