The port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife ( Spanish : Puerto de Santa Cruz de Tenerife ) is located in the northeast of the island of Tenerife in the autonomous community of the Canary Islands in Spain. It is the only port on the island where all types of ships can moor at quays.

Port facilities

The port is subordinate to the Autoridad Portuaria de Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife). This state authority is not only responsible for the operation of the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, but also for the operation of the other ports in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife , Los Cristianos (Tenerife), San Sebastián de La Gomera and La Estaca ( El Hierro ).

Today (2014) the port facilities of Puerto de Santa Cruz de Tenerife are divided into four port basins and a pier below the oil refinery where tankers are loaded and unloaded. The occupancy of the port can be found on the Internet.

Due to the constant expansion of the port, the use of the individual port facilities has changed fundamentally in some cases since 1953. Further changes are to be expected both through further construction work in the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife itself and with the construction of the port in Granadilla de Abona, which began in 2011 .

The northernmost port basin is the Dársena de Pesca (fishing port). Larger fishing vessels or transport ships that take over the catch on the high seas can also dock here. On land there are cold stores and some fish processing plants.

The harbor basin to the south of it, the Dársena del Este , is formed from the eastern dam ( Dique del Este ) of the container quay (Muelle de Contenedores) and the Muelle de Bufadero. Around 5,000 containers can be temporarily stored in the area of the container quay  . The Muelle de Bufadero is also primarily used for container handling. Up to 6,000 containers can be accommodated here. Ships that load and unload cargo for the nearby cement factory, as well as ships with other bulk goods, also dock in the Dársena del Este .

The port basin of the Dársena de Anaga is enclosed by the Muelle Norte , the Dique Sur , the Muelle de Ribera and the Muelle de Enlace . The Dársena de Anaga is the passenger port of the island of Tenerife. At the Muelle Norte Jet-Foil ferries stored in the period from 1991 to 2005 and to Gran Canaria. It is in this harbor basin that the cruise ships that call at the port anchor at the Dique Sur . The ferries of the shipping company Naviera Armas depart from Dársena de Anaga to the eastern Canary Islands and once a week to Huelva . Two Fred Olsen ferries run from here to Agaete on Gran Canaria in 80 minutes .

The basin of Darsena de los Llanos , the south of the Muele de Enlace is, is a marina used in which the boats on pontoons can create.

The refinery is supplied by the Muelle de Hondura pier in the south of the city.
