Haffen-Mehr was an independent municipality in what was then Rees in North Rhine-Westphalia until 1974 , which consisted of several localities. Your localities today belong to the city of Hamminkeln in the Wesel district and to the city of Rees in the Kleve district .
geography
Haffen-Mehr extended southeast of the city of Rees. The Rhine formed the western border of the municipality. The municipality included the villages of Haffen , Mehr and Mehrhoog as well as extensive agricultural areas with other residential areas, including Averforth , Bellinghoven , Bruckshof, Lohrwardt, Lorkenhof, Moshövel, Overkamp-Ree, Stoppendahl and Woyerhof. Gravel mining resulted in several large quarry ponds in the west of the community. The municipality of Haffen-Mehr had an area of 31.5 km².
history
Haffen-Mehr formed a rural community in the mayor's office of Haldern (since 1928 Amt Haldern ) in the Rees district in the Düsseldorf administrative district since the 19th century .
On January 1, 1975, the municipality of Haffen-Mehr was dissolved by the Lower Rhine Act and divided along the Hagener Meer - Bellinghover Meer - Lange Renne water chain . The western part of the municipality with Haffen and Mehr was incorporated into the city of Rees, while the eastern part of the municipality with Mehrhoog came to the municipality (since 1995 city) Hamminkeln.
