Hagop Bedros VII Holassian
Hagop Bedros VII Holassian , also Jakob Petrus VII Holassian, (*?; † February 6, 1843 in Bzommar ) was the seventh Armenian Catholic Patriarch of Cilicia . His term of office was only one year and seven months.
Life
Hagop Holassian was a religious priest of the Antonians . He was patriarchal vicar and administrator - comparable to an apostolic administrator , with his predecessor Patriarch Krikor Bedros VI. Jeranian , he was considered a shrewd advisor.
On June 30, 1841, he was elected Patriarch of Cilicia as his successor. Pope Gregory XVI (1831-1846) confirmed him on January 27, 1842 in office. Even before his election as patriarch, he was friends with Emir Bashir Shihab II of Lebanon , who stayed several times in the monastery of Bzommar. The emir held Holassian in high esteem and called him “Pillar of my rule”.
