Hagop Iskender

Hagop Iskender (* 1871 in Istanbul ; † 1949 there ) was an Armenian-Turkish photographer .

Life

Iskender became co-owner of the famous Istanbul photo studio Sébah & Joaillier in 1910 , together with Jean Pascal Sébah, the heir of the traditional house, who was the official photographer of the Ottoman court, and was founded by Jean's father Pascal Sébah . In 1918, Iskender was involved in the first systematic scientific recording of Islamic and Byzantine monuments in Istanbul , together with well-known Turkish historians and architects and the German-Turkish philologist, journalist and writer Friedrich Schrader .

Iskender's son Bedros (1909-2003) took over the house in 1934 together with a Turkish partner, Ismail Insel . In 1952 the company moved to Paris , where Bedros Iskender was also a well-known photographer.
