Haidinger is an impact crater in the south-western quadrant of the moon. It lies northwest of Wilhelm crater and east of the irregularly shaped Hainzel crater . The Lacus Timoris (Lake of Fear) extends to the southwest .
The crater rim is circular with slight bulges in the western and northeastern areas. The satellite crater 'Haidinger B' touches the crater wall in the east, while 'Haidinger A' lies near the northeastern edge. There is a small crater-like depression along the southern inner wall. A low ridge rises in the northern half of the crater floor.
