Hal Cole

Harold "Hal" Cole (born November 20, 1912 in Tacoma , Washington , USA ; † November 12, 1970 in Los Angeles , California , USA) was an American racing car driver.

Career

Cole started in 8 races of the AAA National Series between 19456 and 1951 , with a fifth place in 1948 on the DeQuoin track being his best result. He tried to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 mile race four times between 1946 and 1950 . Three attempts succeeded, in 1946 he was 4th on the grid, in 1950 he had an accident in qualifying training so that he could not qualify for the race. He achieved his best race result in 1948 with a 6th place, in 1947 his vehicle was withdrawn. He also drove numerous NASCAR and sprint car races.

He died of a heart attack shortly before his 58th birthday .
