The Sinnhubschlössl is a primeval settlement and a medieval fortification about 2.5 km north of Bischofshofen in the district of St. Johann im Pongau in the state of Salzburg in Austria .

At the confluence of Fritzbach and Salzach there is an elongated rocky hill made of Werfen slate, designed as a peninsula . In 1956, when the Salzach Bridge (B 99) was built, the southern part was removed. Residential horizons with huts from the end of the Neolithic and the early Bronze Age as well as finds from the late Hallstatt period came to light. Traces of an early Bronze Age house have been found under a leveling layer from Celtic times. Tapping stones and base plates were used to crush ores and slag and are evidence of early copper smelting on the rocky peninsula, which is well-protected by nature and located at the intersection of trade routes.

The excavations from 1984 onwards concentrate on a small fortification which lies on the highest elevation of the rock ridge. The earth wall encloses an area of about 10 × 30 m. On the narrow sides of the wall there are trenches running across the ridge. The remains of a dry stone wall with wood reinforcement were discovered on the top of the wall . In the 5th century BC The early Celtic castle built in BC fell victim to a fire, presumably in the course of warlike events. In the Middle Ages , the complex is said to have served as a barrier fortification.

Due to the location where it was found, the Sinnhubschlössl is not a listed building, but is designated as a natural monument (1959, NDM00058 , 1.2409 ha), the purpose of protection is the landscape, the cultural history and the preservation of a location for rare plants. Adjacent is the also protected Kreuzberg , the geologically interesting terrace spur that continues the peninsula.
