Haldia ( Bengali : হলদিয়া , Haldiẏā ) is a city in the Indian state of West Bengal with around 200,000 inhabitants (2011 census). It is located in the Purba Medinipur district about 120 kilometers southwest of Kolkata at the mouth of the Hugli and, with its important seaport, is an important transshipment point for Kolkata and the East Indian region.

Since June 9, 1997, Haldia has had the status of a municipality . It is divided into 26 wards . The city is bordered by the Haldi River in the west and the Hugli River in the southeast.
