Halim Kural

Halim Kural (* 1916 in Istanbul ; † March 16, 1999 ) was a Turkish Major General of the Army (Türk Kara Kuvvetleri) .

Life

After attending school, Kural completed an officer training course at the Army School ( Harp Okulu ) , which he completed in 1936 as an ensign of the infantry . After attending the infantry rifle school (Piyade Atış Okulu) , he was employed in various army units of the armed forces (Türk Silahlı Kuvetleri) . After graduating from the Army Academy ( Harp Akademisi ) he was promoted to captain (Yüzbaşı) in 1946 and transferred to the General Staff of Turkey , where he was head of division in the office of the Deputy Chief of General Staff . After that he was company commander of the 12th Company of the 81st Infantry Regiment and an officer in the headquarters of the 18th Corps before he was head of division in the headquarters of the 3rd Army . After serving as head of division in the staff of the 4th Brigade deployed in the Korean War, he became commander of the 1st Battalion of the 26th Infantry Regiment.

Then Kural was a lecturer at the Army Academy and head of the intelligence department at the headquarters of the 1st Army stationed in Istanbul's Selimiye barracks before he became deputy commander of the 66th Division. After a service in the Ministry of Defense (Millî Savunma Bakanlığı) he was promoted to Brigadier General (Tuğgeneral) on August 13, 1962 and transferred to the Operations Department of the General Staff. Subsequently he became deputy commander of the 33rd Division on August 26, 1964.

In 1965 Kural was promoted to major general and as such on September 29, 1966, deputy head of the Armaments Department in the Ministry of Defense. He was thereupon from August 30, 1969 until his retirement on August 30, 1970 in command of the courses of the Academies of the General Staff. He was married and had two children.
