Hamid-Reza Assefi ( Persian حمیدرضا آصفی; * 26. April 1952 in Tehran ) is an Iranian diplomat in retirement .

He is the son of Fatéméh Arabestani and Réza Assefi an official. On January 1, 1983, he married Miss Faézé Djelvé Moghaddam. They have three children: Maryam, Ali, Yahya.

He studied at Alavi High School in Tehran and at Firdausi University Mashhad , where he received his doctorate in organic chemistry. He then completed postdoctoral studies in analytical chemistry at the University of Essex .

Career

From 1981 to 1982 he was a professor at the Shahid Beheschti University and the University of Sistan and Balochistan in Zahedan . From 1982 to 1984 he was Vice President of the National Iranian Radio and Television. From May 10, 1984 to October 3, 1990 he was ambassador to East Berlin ( German Democratic Republic ). From 1990 to 1993 he headed the Western Europe Department in the Foreign Ministry. From December 21, 1993 to October 26, 1998 he was ambassador to Paris . From July 2, 2003 to 1998 to 2006, during the tenure of Mohammad-Reza Chātamī as President of the Islamic Republic, he was spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 2007 to 2010 he was ambassador to Abu Dhabi ( United Arab Emirates ).
