Hamm (Luxembourg)
Hamm is a district in the east of Luxembourg City . In 2016, 1,445 people lived in the district.
history
By splitting off from the community of Sandweiler , Hamm became independent on January 1, 1874. On March 26, 1920 Hamm was incorporated into the city of Luxembourg together with the communities Hollerich and Rollingergrund.
Attractions
Hamm is home to the American military cemetery, the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial, with the graves of 5,070 American soldiers who fell in Luxembourg during World War II . The graves also include that of General George S. Patton jr.
Sports
The local football club Rapid Mansfeldia Hamm Benfica rose in 2007 for the first time in the club's history in the top Luxembourg division, the national division .
