Hammarland is a municipality in the autonomous Finnish province ( Finnish : Lääni ) Åland . It is located in the center of Åland's main island, Fasta Åland, bordering the municipalities of Eckerö in the west, Finström in the east and Jomala in the southeast. Hammarland has 1,577 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018) and covers an area of 140.14 square kilometers. As in all of Åland, Swedish is the official language. The main attraction of the parish is the Hammarland Church , which was built in the first half of the 14th century.

The municipality includes the places Boda, Bovik, Bredbolsta, Byttböle, Djäkenböle, Drygsböle, Frebbenby, Hellesby, Kattby, Kråkböle, Lillbolsta, Mörby, Nävsby, Posta, Skarpnåtö, Strömma, Sålis, Torp, Västmyra.
The eastern part of Märket Island also belongs to the municipality .
