The village of Hamnavoe is one of the population centers on the Shetland Islands . It is the capital of the island of West Burra , which has a total of about 750 inhabitants, and is located on the northwest coast. Hamnavoe is the third largest town in the Shetlands.

Naming
The MV Hamnavoe of Northlink Ferries is named after the place and operates between Scrabster on the Scottish mainland and Stromness on Orkney .
