Monty Skull (* 1969 in Grevesmühlen ) is a German politician without a party (formerly SED and PDS ). Skull was a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania from 1998 to 2002 and political director of the German Peace Society - United War Service Opponents (DFG-VK) from 2007 to 2017 .

Career

After training as a chef in the Grevesmühlen district , he went to Leipzig in 1988 , where he first cooked in the opera's canteen and later in a restaurant. At the same time, he was active as an honorary FDJ secretary for the Leipzig theater from 1989-90. He joined the SED in 1988 and left the PDS in 1992 . Since then he has been independent. From 1990 to 1994 he completed an educator training, during this time he was spokesman for the student council of the Pedagogical University of Neubrandenburg (1990/91).

In Neubrandenburg, skull founded an advisory office for conscientious objection and joined the campaign against conscription , compulsory service and the military. Several times he took part in actions against the recruitment of soldiers. In 1993 he founded the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional association of the DFG-VK and was its honorary state manager until 2018. In the education and science union (GEW) he was a member of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state board from 1994–2000. In 1995, Skull refused to do military service with or without a weapon. After several weeks on a hunger strike while under arrest in the Bundeswehr, he evaded military access in November 1995 by escaping from a toilet window in the Bundeswehr hospital in Berlin . 1995–1996 and again from 2003 to 2018 he was national spokesman for the DFG-VK. As a total objector , he was sentenced to seven months and three years probation for desertion in 1998 .

From 1998 to 2002, Skull was the only non-party member of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state parliament , a member of the PDS parliamentary group. From 2000 he was board spokesman of the Association for Democracy and Tolerance Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . In 2004 he became co-editor of the newspaper against the war and in 2006 deputy state chairman of the Association of Those Persecuted by the Nazi Regime - Association of Antifascists (VVN-BdA) Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

In 2006, together with other activists, he organized the peace movement protest against George W. Bush in Stralsund . In 2006/2007 he was coordinator of the Rostock alliance against the G8 summit in Heiligendamm in 2007 . From January 2007 he was full-time political director of the DFG-VK. In 2009 he was active in the preparation of the protests against the NATO summit in Strasbourg , Kehl and Baden-Baden .

In 2012, he and other parents 'representatives founded the first day-care center parents' council after the district reform and the creation of the great districts in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Since then he has been chairman of the daycare parents' council in the Mecklenburg Lake District (KitaErMSE). After a serious illness, he largely withdrew from political work in 2015 and limited his political commitment to work on the daycare parents' council.

According to his website, several investigations have been carried out against him over the years, some of which have been brought to trial. These included proceedings for interfering with rail traffic , violating the Assembly Act , violating the law on foreigners because he had hidden an asylum seeker and her child from being deported , and insulting a police officer by using Duzen.
