The Han i Hotit border crossing was of great importance for a long time, as it was the only border crossing between Albania and Yugoslavia and later Montenegro for decades . Han i Hotit is located between Tuzi in Montenegro and the Albanian Koplik on the road from Podgorica to Shkodra . On the Albanian side, this is the national road SH1 , which leads from the border to the Albanian capital Tirana . In Montenegro it is continued as Magistralni put M18
Shortly before the border crossing, a road branches off to the northernmost part of Albania, which  leads to Vermosh . In summer 2018, a modernized and expanded border facility was inaugurated. A new building for the Albanian border police was put into operation the following year.

The only international connection of the Albanian Railway , the Podgorica – Shkodra line , crosses the border in Han i Hotit . The railway line was opened on August 6, 1986 and runs from Shkodra to Podgorica , the capital of Montenegro. However, there is no passenger traffic. The railroad border stations are located in Bajza to the south or on the Montenegrin side in Tuzi.
