Hanania Baer (2011)

Hanania Baer (born September 24, 1943 in Jerusalem , British Mandate Palestine , today Israel ) is an Israeli cameraman .

Live and act

Baer had started to work in Israel after several years of military service before he decided shortly after the Six Day War (1967) to go to London to train as a cameraman at the London School of Film Technique there. The following year he was involved in a nine-minute short film (Sunday Saturnalia) as a simple cameraman . Since 1977 he has been working as head cameraman.

Since the beginning of his career, Baer has preferred to photograph an abundance of B-films (Dracula Sucks , Alligator , Revenge of the Ninja) in the United States , especially action-packed stories. From 1985 onwards he was also regularly behind the camera in the ambitious and much more contemplative productions of the off-Hollywood director Henry Jaglom - a cooperation that continues to this day.

Baer has also directed two films - cinema productions from 1996 and 1997. Since 1979 Hanania Baer has also overseen a considerable number of television film productions. The film Die Welle, broadcast in 1981, deserves a special mention .

Awards

For his camera work on Andrea's Story: A Hitchhiking Tragedy (from the ABC Afterschool Specials series ) and But He Loves Me (from the CBS Schoolbreak Special series), he was awarded a Daytime Emmy in 1984 and 1991 respectively . He had received another Emmy nomination in 1982 for Daddy, I'm Their Mama Now (from the ABC Afterschool Specials series ).
