A Christmas Carol is a musical adaptation of the musical of the same name, A Christmas Carol , which was based on the book of the same name, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens .

The rich and stingy entrepreneur Ebenezer Scrooge is a not sociable person who makes his fellow men suffer. In order to lead him back on the right track, three ghosts appear to him at Christmas. The first ghost shows him what mistakes he has made in the past, the second shows him what mistakes he is making in the present, and the third shows him what mistakes he will make in the future if he does not change his behavior. After these visits, Ebenezer Scrooge realizes that he has to change his life and immediately puts it into practice.

The underlying musical by Alan Menken (music) and Lynn Ahrens (text) was shown once a year in December, from 1994 to 2003, as a play in Madison Square Garden .
The film adaptation of the musical was produced by Hallmark Entertainment for NBC . It was recorded in Budapest .
