Hanin Elias
Hanin Elias (born May 31, 1972 in Wittlich ) is a German musician and former label owner.
Life
The daughter of a Syrian doctor and a German spent part of her childhood in Syria . In addition to her then partner Alec Empire and Carl Crack , she was one of the founding members of the Atari Teenage Riot music group in 1992 and thus one of the pioneers of the digital hardcore scene.
After two pregnancies and the end of Atari Teenage Riot, Elias decided to go on alone in 1999 and released her first solo album, In Flames .
She founded the original sub-label Fatal Recordings under the umbrella of Atari Teenage Riot's own label Digital Hardcore Recordings . Elias wanted to publish music written exclusively by women on this sub-label in order to offer them a platform in the somewhat male-dominated scene. Elias later founded Fatal Recordings as a completely independent label.
The album Future Noir followed in 2004 . Guest musicians such as Bertil Mark ( Son Goku , Die Fantastischen Vier ) and Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth are represented. The album was produced and composed by TweakerRay .
Elias was part of a barely manageable number of collaborations. She worked with Le Tigre , Thurston Moore and J Mascis, among others .
In 2005 Elias joined the industrial rock project Pigface (including Steve Albini , Jello Biafra , Danny Carey , Flea and Trent Reznor ) and went on tour with them in the USA.
In 2006 Hanin Elias closed her label Fatal Recordings and opened the Elias gallery in Berlin .
