Hannes Obreno

Hannes Obreno (born March 8, 1991 in Bruges ) is a Belgian rower who was active as a lightweight rower until 2011 and has since competed in the boat classes without weight restrictions.

Obreno, who began rowing in 1999, took part in the Junior World Championships in 2008 and finished 14th with the double scull . At the U23 World Championships he reached sixth place in 2010 with the lightweight single and in 2012 fourth in the difficult single; In 2013 he won silver in single.

In 2010, he finished seventh in the lightweight double sculls at the European Championships in the adult class . Two years later he took tenth place in the difficult double scull. At the European Championships in 2014 , he competed in the single and finished fifth. At the end of the season, he finished eighth at the World Championships in Amsterdam . In 2015, Obreno repeated fifth place in the single at the European Championships . With twelfth place at the 2015 World Championships , Obreno missed out on the direct Olympic qualification for 2016. In 2016, Obreno finished fourth at the European Championships at the beginning of May . Two weeks later he won the last qualifying regatta for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in Lucerne . At the Olympic Regatta, Obreno won the preliminary and quarter-finals and reached the final with a third place in the semi-finals, where he finished fourth, three seconds behind the third-placed.
