The Hannoverscher Yacht-Club e. V. (HYC) was founded on April 1st, 1906 under the name Hagenburger Yacht-Club . In 1933 the name was changed and a year later it was merged with the Steinhuder Yacht Club founded in 1910 . Today the HYC is in Steinhude ( 52 ° 27 ′ 27.4 ″  N , 9 ° 21 ′ 24 ″  E ) and since 1948/49 also in Hanover on the Maschsee ( 52 ° 21 ′ 17.2 ″  N , 9 ° 44 ′ 20.9 ″  O ) resident.

1966 is a special year for the HYC with the championship titles in the 15 square meter dinghy cruiser and corsair .

In 2000 Gabriel Wicke was able to secure a world title in the Contender . This was followed by several national and international titles in various boat classes, such as B. Lower Saxony champion in 420 and teen , German youngest champion in teen and junior runner-up in 420.

In addition, in 2003 the Tornado team won a second place at the International Austrian Championships and European Championships on Cagliari / Sardinia.

And in 2005 there was, among other things, the German champion in the 420, the European youth champions in the 470 and the international German championship in the 49 to celebrate.

The club's best-known sailor at the moment is Susann Beucke , who with Tina Lutz took 4th place at the International Junior World Championship off Gdynia in the 420 and in 2010 the 9th place at the Kiel Week in the 470.
