Among other things, she won the individual and team world championship in the Optimist junior boat class in 2005 and a European junior championship in the 420 class in 2007 . She starts for the Chiemsee Yacht Club and visited the 13th class of the Landschulheims Schloss Ising in Chieming in Upper Bavaria in 2010/2011 .

In the optimist class she won the German championship title in 2003 and the world championship title in the women’s category in 2004. With her world championship title in 2005 in the same class in front of 240 competitors from 51 nations, the then fourteen-year-old was the first female world champion in over ten years and only the third female world champion in the optimist class, which since the first edition in 1962 sailors of both sexes under 16 years is open at all. It was the first German gold medal in the optimist class. At the World Cup, Lutz also won the national championship title with the German team - with Julian and Philipp Autenrieth, Matti Cipra and Florian Dziesiatyam - as well as the "World's Girl Trophy" trophy for the best female performance, which she placed 12th in 2004 the overall standings.

After switching to the 420 class, Lutz became German Junior Champion in 2006 with Lisa Frisch. Tina Lutz has been sailing together with Susann Beucke from Strande near Kiel , who competes for the Hanoverian Yacht Club , since March 2007 , so that both of them were initially only able to train together on weekends when they were at school.

After winning the German youth championship in 2007, they became European junior champions in the 420 class in August 2007, ahead of the Dutch Medemblik, and achieved 9th place in the overall standings - not broken down by gender.

On July 8, 2007, Lutz, together with Julian Autenrieth , was awarded the Bavarian Sports Prize in the category of “Outstanding Young Athletes” for their achievements .

Lutz and Susann Beucke also sailed the 29er class with the aim of qualifying for the ISAF YouthWorlds, a high-ranking international junior regatta.

After the ISAF Council at the end of 2007 with 21 to 20 votes in favor of the 29ers in favor of the women's match race with slow keelboats, the Lutz / Beucke team made another change, this time to the 470 class .

Tina Lutz / Susann Beucke could not achieve their goal of participating in the 2012 Olympic Games . Lutz / Beucke sailed onto the nations starting place in the last qualifying opportunity, but their opponents Kathrin Kadelbach and Friederike Belcher prevented Tina Lutz's ship from achieving a better position in accordance with the rules. An attempt to fight for the qualification in court against the German Sailing Association failed.
