Kathrin Kadelbach (born August 1, 1983 in Berlin ) is a German sailor in the 470 class .

Life

Kathrin Kadelbach completed her studies in media science, politics and philosophy and is now studying business administration for top athletes. She starts for the Seglerhaus am Wannsee association and has been trained by Ruslana Taran since 2012 . Kadelbach comes from a successful sailing family. Father Achim Kadelbach and grandfather Hans Kadelbach took part in the Olympic Games as sailors . First she sailed in the 420 dinghy , where she won silver medals at the European Junior Championships in 2000 and 2003.

Since 2003, Kadelbach has been a helmsman with Saskia Schröder as a crew member in the 470 class for women. At the European Championships in Brest in 2003 they were 27th, at the World Championships in Cadiz 25th. The 2004 World Championships in Zadar ended the Dua in 40th, the European Championships in Warnemünde in 24th. In 2009 Kadelbach / Belcher became German champions. Then both devoted themselves to their studies and completed them by 2010. In Melbourne she won a World Cup on her return. At their next World Championships in 2010 in The Hague they were 14th, at the European Championships 2011 in Helsinki 15th and at the World Championships of the year in Perth 28th Despite the comparatively mediocre placement, the duo was able to win the 2012 Summer Olympics in London to qualify. At the beginning of October 2012, the Kadelbach / Belcher team split. In 2013 she received "the golden badge of honor from the Berlin Sailing Association for her participation in the 2012 Olympic Games and her sailing successes".
