Manfred Billinger (* 1953 in Münster ; † February 10, 2001 in Hamm ) was a German artist .

Live and act

Billinger, born in 1953, studied from 1976 at the University of Applied Sciences in Münster with a focus on object design, sculpture and drawing. In 1978 he opened his first studio in Münster. He wrote his diploma thesis on " Monolithic Objects in the Landscape".

In 1982 Billinger moved to Hamm as a freelance artist, where he worked as an artist from 1988 in a hall on the premises of Thyssen Draht AG. From 1999 he had a former orangery in a castle park in the Münsterland as a studio .

In 1987 Billinger received a France grant from the Aldegrever Society, Münster. In 1990 he was honored with the Dr. Emil Löhnberg Prize of the City of Hamm, which was then awarded for the first time.

For the Gütersloh city park , Billinger created the so-called Fabelpfad, consisting of eight steel sculptures between 1.60 and 5.20 meters high. The first sculpture was erected in 2000 for the 175th anniversary of the city of Gütersloh , and more in the following years. Since Billinger died in 2001 at the age of 47, he did not live to see the completion of the fable path. The sculptures were made posthumously according to his plans.
