Todor Nikolaew Aleksiev ( Bulgarian Тодор Николаев Алексиев , English transcription: Todor Aleksiev ; born April 21, 1983 in Plovdiv ) is a Bulgarian volleyball player .

Career

Aleksiev played for his hometown club Lokomotiv Plovdiv until 2004 and then moved to Levski Sofia . In Sofia he won the double of the national cup and championship twice in 2005 and 2006. At the 2006 World Cup , the universal player reached third place with the Bulgarian national team . He then moved to Russia to Ural Ufa . In 2007 Aleksiev went to the Italian club Famigliulo Corigliano , but his engagement there ended at the beginning of November. Instead he played in Turkey at Halkbank Ankara . With Bulgaria he finished third in the 2007 World Cup . The following year he took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing , in which the Bulgarians reached the quarter-finals and thus came in fifth. After the tournament, the universal player was signed by Lokomotiv-Izumrud Yekaterinburg . In 2009, the national team finished the European Championship in third place. Aleksiew was active in the 2010/11 season at Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor . He then moved to the Russian league for the third time to his current club ZSK Gazprom-Ugra Surgut . In 2012 he finished fourth with Bulgaria in London at his second Olympic tournament .
