Hanns Christian Schroeder-Hohenwarth (born March 14, 1921 in Königsberg ; † September 9, 2011 in Kronberg im Taunus ) was a German banker .

Life

Hanns C. Schroeder-Hohenwarth, born in Königsberg, attended the humanistic grammar school in Stolp , Pomerania. After graduating from high school, he did military service as a cavalry officer in World War II , rose to squadron chief and was seriously wounded in Russia in 1941. A flame oil bullet tore an 18 cm long piece out of his pelvis and hip. As a result, he spent a year in a stretch bandage and another year in a pelvic cast. As a result of this injury, he was unable to sit normally and on medication for life. On December 1, 1943, he joined the NSDAP . From May 15, 1944, he was head of department at the Reich Youth Leadership , after which he was employed in the Foreign Service to look after the collaborators who had fled from France .

He then studied law in Berlin, Freiburg and Göttingen and completed his studies with the two state exams and the doctorate to become a Dr. jur. from.

Hanns Christian Schroeder-Hohenwarth was married to Marie Anne Pardey and they had two daughters.

From 1951 to 1953 he worked as a lawyer in Wiesbaden and then until 1957 as a councilor in the Bonn Ministry of Finance in the banking and international finance department. In 1957 he became an employee of the Frankfurter Bank . There he rose to the board in 1963. With the merger of Frankfurter Bank and Berliner Handels-Gesellschaft in 1970 to form BHF-Bank , he became a personally liable partner and senior partner of this bank.

1983 to 1987 he was President of the Association of German Banks .

From 1984 to 1992 he was chairman of the supervisory board of BHF-Bank, then honorary chairman.

Further volunteer work

Schroeder-Hohenwarth took on many voluntary tasks, especially in the field of science funding. The association of friends and supporters of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University and the Frankfurt Society for Trade, Industry and Science have appointed him honorary chairman and honorary member after each ten-year presidency.

Honors

Hanns Christian Schroeder-Hohenwarth is Honorary Senator of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University . He received three Federal Crosses of Merit : 1981 the Federal Cross of Merit First Class, 1986 the Grand Cross of Merit and 1994 the Grand Cross of Merit with a star. In 1987 he was awarded the plaque of honor of the city of Frankfurt am Main and in 1992 the Hessian Order of Merit.

The fly species Priophora schroederhohenwarthi is named after Hanns Christian Schroeder-Hohenwarth .
