Hanns Freydank

Hanns Freydank (born December 26, 1892 in Starkow , Rummelsburg district ; † September 22, 1971 in Halle / Saale ; actually Johannes Max Hermann Julius Freydank ) was a German mining historian, numismatist and genealogist .

Life

Born as the son of a manor leaseholder in Starkow in the Rummelsburg district in Hinterpommern , he attended high school in Stolp and later, due to a change of residence of his parents, the cathedral high school in Kolberg . In Munich he studied art history and philosophy until the outbreak of the First World War, from which he returned home as a lieutenant in the reserve with several wounds. He found a job in Halle as a librarian at the Numismatic Institute. He subsequently resumed studying economic history, archeology and coinage. As the archivist of the Halleschen Pfän profitability , he arranged the archive holdings and set up a factory museum of the Mansfeld AG and achieved notoriety. As a scientist, he became known through his publication Die Halleische Pfänkeit im Mittelalter and subsequently received his doctorate from the [University of Halle-Wittenberg] . In the years 1928 to 1933 numerous publications appeared, in total there should have been around 900 publications on the home and economic history of Mansfeld. From 1925 to 1944 he acted as editor of the genealogical journal Ekkehard - Mitteilungsblatt deutscher Genealogischer Evenings . In 1942 he was appointed to the board of directors of the Antiquities Association of the County of Mansfeld zu Eisleben . After the Second World War, Freydank worked temporarily at the University and State Library in Halle until his retirement in 1968 . He died on September 22, 1971 in Halle / Saale .
