Hanns Kreutz

Hanns Johann Kreutz (born September 14, 1892 in Forchheim , Upper Franconia , † December 3, 1952 in Munich ) was a German crop scientist.

Life

Kreutz studied agriculture in Weihenstephan from 1910 to 1913 and at the agricultural department of the Technical University of Munich and in 1910 became a member of the Corps Donaria zu Freising-Weihenstephan . From 1919 he worked as a scientific assistant and department head at the Bavarian State Plant Breeding Institute in Weihenstephan. In 1921 he took over the position of curator at the Institute for Arable and Plant Production at the Technical University of Munich. Under the aegis of Ludwig Kießling , he received his doctorate there in 1924 with a dissertation on the horse bean ( Vicia faba L. ). In the following two decades he also worked intensively on the cultivation of legumes .

In 1940 Kreutz was appointed private lecturer for the field of arable and crop production at the Technical University of Munich. At times he took over the lectures of the sick professor Ludwig Kießling. From 1943 to the beginning of 1945, Kreutz was a full professor at the Institute for Plant Cultivation and Plant Breeding at the University of Breslau, succeeding Friedrich Berkner .
