Hans-Dieter Haas

Hans-Dieter Haas (born October 4, 1943 in Wirsitz , Province of Posen ) is a German economic geographer . He taught as full professor of economic geography at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and holds the chair for economic geography and business administration in the international economic areas.

Life

Haas studied geography , economics and geology at the University of Tübingen from 1963 from 1969 . He received his doctorate in 1969 and became a research assistant, in 1973 academic councilor at the Geography Institute of the University of Tübingen. In 1972 he spent a DFG - research semester at the University of the West Indies in Kingston (Jamaica) . In 1976 Haas received his habilitation (geography).

In 1979 he was appointed professor of economic geography at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. From 1983 to 1984 he was Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. In 1992, he turned down an offer for a chair for applied geography at the University of Tübingen and an offer for a chair for cultural geography at the University of Stuttgart . Haas has been full professor for economic geography (professor and director of the Institute for Economic Geography) at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich since 1992 .

Haas was a visiting professor at Washington State University in the USA in 1995 . From 1997 to 2005 he had a teaching position at the state-unrecognized Euro Business College in Munich .
