Timo Zahnleiter

Hans-Dieter "Timo" Zahnleiter (born December 16, 1948 in Mannheim ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .

Career

Career as a player

Zahnleiter played in the then second-rate Regionalliga Süd from 1967 to 1971 at VfR Mannheim and from 1971 to 1974 at TSV 1860 Munich . Then he was from 1974 to 1977 with Greek first division club AEK Athens in Greece. 1978/79 he was with VfR Bürstadt and from 1979 to 1981 he played for Wormatia Worms in the 2nd Bundesliga .

Career as a coach

His coaching career began in 1982/83 at Olympia Lampertheim . In 1983/84 he had his first professional coaching job at SV Darmstadt 98 in the 2nd division. Then he was assistant coach at 1. FC Köln in the 1984/85 season . From 1985 to 1989 he was assistant coach at the Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt . From the 17th matchday of the 1986/87 season in early December 1985 he was head coach at Eintracht Frankfurt after the departure of Dietrich Weise . The Eintracht ended the season in 16. In the following season he was again assistant coach at the club, this time under Karlheinz Feldkamp . After Feldkamp was dismissed after the third match day of the 1988/89 season, he was interim head coach for five match days before he again took the assistant role under Feldkamp's successors Pál Csernai and Jörg Berger . Eintracht's greatest success during his time there was winning the DFB Cup in 1987/88 with a 1-0 win over VfL Bochum .

In the 1989/90 season he was a year coach at third division Viktoria Aschaffenburg . From November 1990 to April 191 he was relegated to the GDR upper division Energie Cottbus at the end of the season. Then he returned to the Oberliga Hessen , where he worked for VfB Marburg , SV Wiesbaden and Rot-Weiß Walldorf . This was followed by engagements in Greece between 1995 and 2000 (PAS Iannina, Ethnikos Piraeus , Ethnikos Asteras and Anagennisi Karditsa ).
