Hans Dietrich Genscher House
The Hans-Dietrich-Genscher-Haus (HDGH) in the Berlin district of Mitte has been the seat of the federal office of the FDP since 1999 . The building at Reinhardtstrasse 14/16 was built from 1908 to 1912 according to a design by Caspar Clemens Pickel as the St. Maria-Viktoria-Krankenhaus for the Dominican Order . During the GDR era , it housed the German Farmers' Publishing House and the German Agricultural Publishing House, which belonged to the DBD block party .
The FDP has been using the listed building since its inauguration on July 9, 1999. Until 2017, the federal office - like the party headquarters in Bonn - was named after the former FDP federal chairman Thomas Dehler . In March 2017 the FDP decided to rename the building in honor of the honorary chairman Hans-Dietrich Genscher, who died the previous year .
