The Konrad-Adenauer-Haus in Berlin-Tiergarten

The Konrad-Adenauer-Haus is the federal office of the CDU in the Berlin district of Tiergarten in the Mitte district . The building at Klingelhöferstrasse 8 is a familiar sight in Germany because of its striking architecture as a background image in news programs and reports. The building was designed by the Düsseldorf architects Petzinka Pink und Partner, with Klaus Groth as the client .

history

The impending relocation of parliament and government to Berlin meant for the party laying from the central Rhine to the Spree . For the CDU, this meant giving up its party headquarters in Bonn, which also bore the name Konrad-Adenauer-Haus .

The CDU federal executive decided on June 30, 1997 for the Tiergarten triangle as the seat of the new party headquarters. This was justified with the location in the new political center of Berlin, surrounded by Bellevue Palace and the Federal President's Office , the government district as well as embassies , scientific institutions and some representations of the federal states . The branch of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is also in the immediate vicinity of the party headquarters.

After almost two years of construction, the building was inaugurated on June 16, 2000 by party leader Angela Merkel ; It was ready for occupancy on July 3rd.
