Hans-Eberhard Urbaniak (born April 9, 1929 in Dortmund-Dorstfeld ) is a German trade union secretary and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending primary school , Hans-Eberhard Urbaniak went to the mining vocational school and completed training as a miner from 1943. He then worked underground as a squire and tusker. He joined the mining and energy union in 1945 and later became chairman of the works council . From 1950 to 1955 he attended courses at the federal schools of the DGB and in 1955/56 he continued his education at the Dortmund Social Academy . In 1961 he started working as a union secretary on the board of IG Bergbau und Energie Bochum .

Political party

Hans-Eberhard Urbaniak has been a member of the SPD since 1951. In 1968 he was elected chairman of the SPD local association Dortmund-Dorstfeld-Oberdorf and in the same year he was elected to the board of the SPD subdistrict Dortmund. He belonged to the district executive committee of the SPD Westl. Westphalia on. He was also a co-founder of the Working Group for Employee Issues in the SPD and its deputy federal chairman for 15 years.

Hans-Eberhard Urbaniak was a councilor for the city ​​of Dortmund from 1964 to 1970 . He was a member of the German Bundestag from March 9, 1970, when he replaced the deceased MP Werner Jacobi on the SPD's state list in North Rhine-Westphalia , until 2002. In parliament he represented the constituency of Dortmund II from 1972 to 1980 and then the constituency of Dortmund I until 2002 . From 1991 to 2003 Hans-Eberhard Urbaniak was deputy federal election commissioner for the social security elections.
