Hans-Günther Assel
Hans-Günther Assel (born June 24, 1918 in Breslau ; † November 5, 2002 ) was a German political scientist.
Career
Assel studied German, English and history at the Universities of Breslau and Munich. After he passed the second state examination for teaching at secondary schools in 1946 , he worked as a teacher in Bavaria until 1964 . He received his doctorate in history from the University of Erlangen in 1948. He then studied at the University of Economics and Social Sciences in Nuremberg and received his doctorate in sociology in 1951.
From 1963 to 1973 he was a lecturer in contemporary history at the Nuremberg University of Education. In 1970 he was appointed honorary professor. From 1973 to 1983 he was Professor of Political Science at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg .
In addition, he was chairman of the Bavarian State Committee in the German Evangelical Church Congress from 1968 to 1985 . Assel was politically active in the CSU , for which he ran unsuccessfully for the German Bundestag in the 1961 federal election.
