Hans-Günther Beyerstedt (2015)

Hans-Günther Beyerstedt (born April 16, 1948 in Braunschweig ) is a German chimney sweep and association official. From 2002 to 2015 he was President of the Federal Association of Chimney Sweepers .

Life

Hans-Günther Beyerstedt was born on April 16, 1948 in Braunschweig. After training in the chimney sweep trade with a degree as a chimney sweep journeyman, he passed the master's examination in the chimney sweep trade in March 1970 . In 1981, Beyerstedt took over a sweeping district in Braunschweig and is now the fourth generation to run a chimney sweep. Beyerstedt is married and has two children.

Beyerstedt taught as a technical and vocational school teacher at Vocational School 3 in Hanover and at the Langenhagen chimney sweep school . In addition, as a trade instructor, he imparted technical knowledge to trainees in the trade.

Activity in the craft

In 2002, Hans-Günther Beyerstedt was elected President of the Federal Association of Chimney Sweepers - Central Guild Association (ZIV). In this function Beyerstedt represented the professional interests of the 8,000 chimney sweep companies with their 20,000 employees. These are organized in 53 guilds and 16 regional guild associations.

In the same year he was elected President of the European Chimney Sweep Federation (Eschfoe) by the representatives of the twenty national chimney sweep associations.

Priorities during the term of office

Reform of the chimney sweep law in Germany

Beyerstedt accompanied the reform of the Chimney Sweep Crafts Act (SchfHwG) according to the requirements of the EU Commission , which led to decisive changes such as the partial liberalization of activities in the chimney sweep trade. Since 2013 there has been free competition in certain chimney sweep work areas. Before and during the legislative process, Beyerstedt represented the professional and technical interests of the skilled trades at the European Commission and the responsible federal ministries. Beyerstedt called this a major upheaval "From regulated craft to free competition".

New regulation of retirement benefits

In the course of the reform of the Chimney Sweep Crafts Act (SchfHwG), the retirement provisions of the authorized district chimney sweeps were also reorganized. For this reason, the previously responsible supply institution of the German district chimney sweep masters was closed and in 2012 the pension fund in the chimney sweep trade eV was founded. Beyerstedt was chairman of the board of representatives of the pension fund and a member of the chamber council of the Bavarian pension chamber, which ran the business of the pension fund. During his tenure, he achieved that paid pension contributions could be received.

New training regulation and introduction of a training support system

In 2012, a new training ordinance in the chimney sweep trade was introduced, and Beyerstedt helped to create it. The establishment of the professional training cost compensation fund at the federal level also took place during Beyerstedt's tenure as Federal Association President. This training cost compensation fund aims to support training companies financially in order to promote and secure training in the craft.

With the Central Association of German Chimney Sweeps - trade union professional association - (ZDS), the federal association of the chimney sweep trade under Beyerstedt's leadership concluded a new minimum wage agreement for chimney sweep employees in 2014 .

Former and active volunteer work in the craft organizations

From 1970 to 1972 Beyerstedt took over the office of district group technician in the Central Association of Chimney Sweeps - trade union professional association - (ZDS), from 1972 to 1973 the office of regional association technician in Lower Saxony. From 1974 to 1980 Beyerstedt was appointed technical advisor.

As an authorized district chimney sweep (until 2013 district chimney sweep master) Beyerstedt initially volunteered as district chairman from 1981 to 1985. He then represented the interests of the Braunschweig chimney sweep guild as head master from 1985 to 1989. In 1989 Beyerstedt was elected the state guild master of the state guild association of the chimney sweep trade of Lower Saxony. In Langenhagen he was in charge of official affairs at state level until he was elected President of the Federal Association of Chimney Sweepers in 2002.

• In 2004, Beyerstedt received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon from the Federal President .
• Beyerstedt has been the Honorary State Guild Master of Lower Saxony since 2005 .
• In 2008 he was awarded the highest honor in the craft, the gold craft mark.
• In 2009 he received the German Fire Brigade Medal of Honor and in 2015 the Silver Badge of Honor from the German Fire Brigade Association (DFV).
• In 2015 Beyerstedt was named Honorary President of the Federal Association of Chimney Sweepers.
