Hans-Georg Fritzsche (born February 1, 1926 - † May 29, 1986 ) was a German theologian and university professor .

Life

Fritzsche studied Protestant theology and philosophy . He received his doctorate in the subjects of systematic theology and philosophy. Since 1956 he was a lecturer and since 1960 professor for systematic theology at the Humboldt University in Berlin . He soon had to leave the Berlin faculty because the SED had appointed his adversary, the left-wing Hanfried Müller , as a lecturer. Fritzsche then taught in Halle (Saale) and Jena , but kept his residence in Kleinmachnow . He came back to East Berlin in 1966. He paid particular attention to the interaction between theology and philosophy, with the consequences for theology and the church that were of particular interest to him.

Fritzsche dealt with questions of theodicy and proofs of God . He taught z. B. “ Complementarity as an epistemological principle in theology”. He presented a draft dogmatics and practical handbooks on theological ethics . His work Leittextte der Bibel (1981), a systematic theology based on biblical texts, was also widely used. Many of his books were published in parallel by the Evangelische Verlagsanstalt (GDR) and the Göttingen publishing house Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. Fritzsche died shortly after completing his 60th year. The last volume of his dogmatics appeared posthumously. He was buried in field 11 of the Kleinmachnow forest cemetery , a cemetery for celebrities. Fritzsche belonged to the GDR CDU . Fritzsche worked on scientific compilations, such as the Theologische Realenzyklopädie , for example on the article Decalogue IV. Ethical (TRE 8, pp. 418-428).

Employee of the GDR State Security

Since 1956 he was an unofficial employee (IM) of the Stasi. The Ministry for State Security used Fritzsche's reputation as a western-oriented theologian to get information from independent theologian circles, while Fritzsche stated that he used his IM work as a protection for his “bourgeois-western-oriented” theology.
