Hans-Georg Graichen (born August 12, 1919 in Hamburg ; † December 8, 2008 there ) was a German tax advisor. He headed the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Mali in Hamburg and was the founder of the Children's Fund Third World eV

Life

After studying law and obtaining a doctorate as a Dr. jur. on colonial constitutional and international law in 1948, Graichen initially worked as a tax advisor in Hamburg. In 1966 he became President of the Federal Association of Tax Advisory Professions and a member of the Hamburg Finance and Culture Deputation. In the same year he worked under the pseudonym Valentin Pfeiffer on the book "Land im Aufstand ... Kurdistan" by Erlendur Haraldsson.

In 1975, one year after his accreditation as Malian honorary consul, he founded the Children's Fund for Third World, which has since carried out health and educational projects for disadvantaged children and young people in ten countries in Africa (mainly in Mali), South America and Asia.

Services

On Graichen's initiative in 1978 in Mali and Senegal the first transnational mass vaccination with one million vaccination units against poliomyelitis was carried out. For this humanitarian pioneering act, he received the honorary title Commandeur de l'Ordre National in 1979, the highest Malian order of merit awarded to non-Malians.
