Hans-Hermann Breuer

Hans-Hermann Breuer (born July 8, 1900 in Hamburg , † December 26, 1971 in Osnabrück ) was a German historian and Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

He studied in Kiel (1925–1927) and Münster (1918–1922 / 1927–1928), where he obtained his doctorate in 1939. phil. received his doctorate . He was ordained a priest on May 26, 1923 in Osnabrück. In 1923 he was vicar in St. Alexander in Bawinkel , 1923–1925 chaplain in Maria, Hilfe der Christisten (Neustrelitz) , 1925–1927 vicar in St. Nikolaus (Kiel) and later a preceptor at the Konvikt in Osnabrück. From 1927 to 1938 he taught at the Ursulaschule Osnabrück , of which he was rector from 1935. In 1938 he was dismissed from school. From 1938 to 1949 he was cathedral vicar in Osnabrück. In 1944 he helped pastorally in St. Johannis (Alfhausen) and in Wallenhorst , where he was chaplain from 1949 to 1950. As President of the Kolping Society there , he worked on weekdays in the Vicariate General, where he was the second archivist from 1951 to 1962. From 1958 he was commissioner for the preservation of monuments. From 1962 to 1971 he was a diocesan archivist. From 1956 to 1971 he was director of the Cathedral Treasury and Diocesan Museum (Osnabrück) . He is buried at St. Peter's Cathedral (Osnabrück) .
