Hans-Jürgen Bareiss (2013)

Hans-Jürgen Bareiss (born June 22, 1942 in Stuttgart ) is a German pedagogue, therapist, songwriter and composer.

Life

Bareiss studied education and psychology as a basic subject in Reutlingen . His teaching majors were music and German. After several years as a teacher at a secondary school and part-time activities as a musician and choir director, he studied educational science and special education in Heidelberg, specializing in education for the hearing and speech impaired . From 1971 he worked as a special school teacher, speech therapist, music and rhythm teacher or therapist with appropriate additional training, and as the leader of a private children's and youth choir with a band in Heidelberg. In addition, he took on a training role for students of special education ( Heidelberg University of Education ) for two decades . His focus was the development and communication of holistic pedagogical-therapeutic concepts for working with linguistically impaired children and adolescents, in particular rhythmic-musical education and therapy with music and movement ( music therapy ). He completed his further part-time study of educational science with the development of a comprehensive presentation of the therapeutic dimensions of the subject of rhythmics in 1978 as a qualified pedagogue . He was a regular speaker in the music and rhythmics department in the context of special education courses in the state of Baden-Württemberg . After setting up an early childhood education center, a collection of many of his own songs was created in the course of his rhythmic-musical work at the Heidelberg Language School. These were published in 1992. This was followed by training in psychotherapy ( body psychotherapy and systemic psychotherapy ). In this context, he also dealt with the subject of animal-assisted education and therapy. As a trained riding therapist, he developed the holistic educational-therapeutic model "TMPI - Therapeutic-Human-Horse-Interaction".

As an instrumentalist he played the trombone in a symphony orchestra and in jazz bands, as a choir director piano and keyboards and currently saxophone in duo with flamenco guitar. Bareiss has lived with his wife on the Höri peninsula on Lake Constance since 2007. He has four grown children.

Characteristics of the songs

The 63 songs are the result of working with children and young people as part of their rhythmic-musical education (rhythm and choir work). The pronounced rhythmic element of the songs is represented by their own notation system, which, in addition to the chord symbols and sometimes also their own melodies for preludes and interludes, serves as the basis for the instrumental accompaniment. The rhythmic songbook gives many hints for the continuation of the songs for movement, dance and interaction games. The idea on which the songs are based is to address “inner layers” through texts and musical elements that enable direct identification and community experience. The collection offers song material for preschool, primary and secondary levels - and also for adults. The well-known music teacher Margrit Küntzel-Hansen wrote in her review: “The song collection is characterized by a particularly wide range of songs, some with several voices, some as canons, some with detailed elaborations in the appendix or with masterfully made sounds on cassette and CD, through striking rhythms, through texts full of fun, fuel, thoughtfulness and beauty. ”The song titles and topics can be viewed under the web link to the Bosse-Verlag (see below).

Spreading the songs

  • Performances, adaptations, takeover in works collections

PULSSCHLAG songs are sung in schools, kindergartens, children's, youth and adult choirs in the entire German-speaking area (and beyond). They have also been picked up by radio stations, e. B. as part of the ARD song project with the MDR children's choir 2012 in a program dedicated to the song “Zarter Mohn” (“Today came a summer messenger”) (see web link ardmediathek.de). PULSSCHLAG songs are part of the program in many public concerts. z. For example, the song “Winter Splendor” at Festlichen Singen 2009 in the Konzerthaus and St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna under the motto “The Seasons for Children - in honor of the composer Joseph Haydn” - performed by almost a thousand young voices and a symphony orchestra (see picture). PULSSCHLAG songs can be found in a large number of song and choir books, collections of teaching materials, magazine articles with performance examples and also on CD recordings. Some were supplemented with new polyphonic movements or with piano movements.

Characteristics of the TMPI model - therapeutic human-horse interaction

TMPI is a client-centered, holistic-systemic approach for educational and therapeutic work with humans and horses. This provides a differentiated - open to further development - structural model of the work area. The focus is on the relationship aspect and the abundance of interaction forms and dimensions. The experience that occurs in the human-horse interaction and its impulses for personal growth and development become the crucial point of support and therapy. Riding is not in the foreground. It is just one of many possibilities for holistic learning with the interaction partner horse, which is seen here in a "face-to-face relationship" as a partner or co-therapist. The author contrasted the TMPI model with the common definition and terminology in the field of " therapeutic riding " and gave suggestions for further developing the theoretical foundations of the field of work under socio-scientific and interdisciplinary aspects.

Implementation of the model

The TMPI model became the basis of specialist training (e.g. Arbeitsgemeinschaft Riding undherapie eV as well as social pedagogical training center in Münster) and serves as a foundation for the work approach of many therapeutic and educational institutions that involve horses as interaction partners. It has found its way into the specialist literature of various professional groups.
