Hans-Jürgen Bersch

Hans-Jürgen Bersch (born April 17, 1925 in Hamburg ; † November 21, 2016 in Wiesbaden ) was a German chemist and science journalist .

Life

Bersch was born in Hamburg-Harburg in 1925 and moved to Leipzig in 1930. After elementary school he attended the Thomas School in Leipzig from 1935 to 1943 . After graduating from high school, he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service and as a soldier in the Air Force . During the Second World War he was captured by the Americans for two years. From 1946 he studied chemistry at the University of Leipzig and Hamburg University .

He initially worked for Norddeutscher Rundfunk and from 1970 was the first editor in the main editorial department for culture / education and upbringing at ZDF . In the chemistry department he was editor and author of the 52-part series Chemistry Study Program (1975–1982) and the 13-part series Bild (n) er der Chemie (1983–1988). In total, he produced more than 250 science programs from 1963 to 1990.

Hans-Jürgen Bersch was chairman of the Thomanerbund eV He lived in Wiesbaden.
