Hans-Jürgen Bieling

Hans-Jürgen Bieling (born July 30, 1967 in Geseke ) is a German political scientist specializing in International Political Economy (IPÖ). He researches and teaches as a professor for IPÖ at the University of Tübingen .

Life

Bieling studied political science, economics and sociology at the University of Marburg from 1988 to 1993 . There he received his doctorate in 1999 with a dissertation on the dynamics of social division and exclusion - social theories and time diagnoses with Frank Deppe . From 2002 to 2008 Bieling was junior professor for the field of European integration in the globalization process. He completed his habilitation on this topic in Marburg in 2008 with the work Structural Society and Political-Institutional Determinants of Globalization and World Order Policy of the European Union .

On September 1, 2010, Bieling was appointed professor in the field of "Politics and Organization of Civil Society in a European and Global Context" at the University of Bremen . Previously, he was a substitute professor at the University of Hamburg and the Technical University of Darmstadt . In August 2011 he accepted an offer for the 2011/2012 winter semester at the University of Tübingen in the field of political economy.

In addition to the IPÖ, Bieling researches mainly in the field of European integration as well as political, state and social theory.

Bieling is a member of Attac's Scientific Advisory Board . He is one of the co-editors of the magazine Politikum, which has been published since 2015 .

Bieling is married and has two children.
