Hans-Jürgen Sterly (born May 23, 1938 ; † December 26, 2012 in Lübeck ) was a German school principal and author .

Career

Head of the state vocational school

Sterly was head of the state vocational school for the roofing trade in Schleswig-Holstein for many years . Under his direction, a roofing museum was set up on the premises of the state vocational school. In five years of work he wrote the chronicle “Guild of the building trade Lübeck 555 years” , which appeared in 2008. At the celebrations for the publication of the chronicle, he was awarded the Golden Badge of Honor of Lübeck Crafts.

Voluntary work in sport

From 1965 onwards, Sterly was a board member of TSV Schlutup and its first chairman from 1973 to 1978. Since 1978 he was on the board of the Gymnastics and Sports Federation Lübeck and for almost 20 years its 1st chairman. His great efforts to improve the situation of the sports facilities in Lübeck resulted in the adoption of a Lübeck “Charter of Sports”, in which the guidelines for the cooperation between the Hanseatic city and the TSB Lübeck were laid down.

  • 2000: Merit Medal of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his many years of honorary commitment to sport
  • 2008: Golden badge of honor for the Lübeck craft
  • Honorary chairman of the TSB Lübeck
