Hans-Joachim Strauch

Hans-Joachim Strauch (born January 4, 1939 in Berlin ) is a German legal scholar and administrative judge .

Life

After studying law as well as history and philosophy in Frankfurt a. M. Strauch worked at the University of Giessen from 1965 to 1971 . At the same time he entered the higher service of the Hessian judiciary as assessor with effect from February 27, 1969. Some time later he switched to administrative jurisdiction , where he was appointed judge at the administrative court with effect from March 14, 1974 and initially worked at the administrative court in Frankfurt am Main . In addition, Strauch wrote his dissertation State and academic examination regulations: constitutional analysis of a steering instrument at the University of Giessen , with which he obtained his doctorate in 1975. In 1980, Strauch moved to Gießen professionally. On January 1, 1980, two foreign chambers of the Wiesbaden Administrative Court were established in the university town. Strauch was initially one of two presiding judges. With effect from January 1, 1987, these Foreign Chambers became the independent Administrative Court of Gießen , of which Strauch was appointed founding president. In 1991 he moved to the Federal Administrative Court for two years . Since the Hessian administrative jurisdiction helped to set up the administrative jurisdiction in Thuringia, Strauch switched to the Thuringian justice division in 1993. With effect from July 27, 1994 he was appointed President of the newly created Thuringian Higher Administrative Court in Weimar , where he also headed the 1st Senate. From 1995 to 2000 he was a deputy member of the Thuringian Constitutional Court . In 2004, Strauch went into judicial retirement.

Since 1976 he has held a legal teaching position at the University of Gießen, which was followed by a corresponding position at the University of Jena in 1995 and at the Bauhaus University in Weimar in 1999 . In 2003 he became an honorary professor at the University of Jena. He is also the editor of the Thuringian administrative gazettes . He researches and publishes on subjects relating to academic freedom, university law, procedural law, foreign trade law, and building and planning law. In addition, he also works in the field of basic legal research. He is interested in changes in the judge's working method through the use of EDP.
